TENS Hire Service - What's Included

At Natures Gate we know babies rarely arrive on time, they are usually early or late. So to give you peace of mind, we offer a full six week rental period.

Obstetric TENS Unit

Natures Gate obstetric TENS units are especially designed for use during childbirth.

All our units are dual channel, with a separate ergonomic hand held or integral boost button. Dual channel means that each pair of electrodes has a separate control. Therefore if there is more pain in the lower back than the upper, the stimulation to the electrodes can be set accordingly. Each channel on our units go up to 80mA, (or 130mA on the digital Platinum Service TENS) making all our TENS machines very powerful. For most effective pain relief TENS should be started at the first onset of labour.

The controls on our TENS machines come pre-set for labour, but are adjustable. This allows the mother the flexibility of also using the TENS to treat back pain or afterpains before or after the birth of her baby. The machines can even be used for post-operative pain relief should a caesarean section be required.

When using the TENS unit for labour, by pressing the boost button during a contraction the frequency will be changed from low to high. The low frequency signals will stimulate endorphin release, while the high frequency will give a more immeadiate blocking of pain signals. The low frequency feels like a pulse and the high frequency is continuous. This variation of low to high frequency gives optimum pain relief during labour.

Our Electrodes

All electrodes supplied by Natures Gate are disposable self-adhesive electrodes designed for single patient use. This eliminates the risk of exposure to potentially infectious material that could be associated with the traditional 'gel and tape' style of electrodes that require cleaning between each patient use. The pads are easy to apply and are hypoallergenic.

All our obstetric electrodes are made with axelgaard gel containing superior conductive capabilities. This disperses the current evenly across the electrode to optimise pain relief and comfort.

We offer a choice of our standard single use self-adhesive electrodes. Six pads are supplied; four for use during labour and two practice ones. This is our Silver Service.

With our Gold Service you receive four of our deluxe re-usable self-adhesive electrodes. This service is ideal if you wish to use your TENS for back pain, or afterpains, if you are planning to be in and out of the bath, or are worried about false starts.

Alternatively you may wish to opt for our new Platinum Service this service offers the latest in digital obstetric TENS technology.

Our super high power machine has been designed to give maximum pain relief during labour. The machine can also be used for many other pain conditions and has a unique pre-set back pain programme.

The TNS-OB machine has been designed for ease of use with its simple 3-Step Obstetric programme: on/off; power up/power down; boost on/boost off.

Other modes can be easily selected if you wish to use the machine to treat other conditions such as arthritis, menstrual pain, sports injuries etc.

The Platinum Service includes a six week Obstetric TENS hire which comes with our deluxe reusable electrodes.
